The Pier At Glebe Beach.

After we shot the video on Beaver Pond Beach yesterday, we decided to check out how the Glebe Beach was holding up after the recent storms we had. As we were walking down towards the water, I noticed a pile of deck boards stacked up. At this time, the pier/observation deck is extremely unsafe to be on and needs to be boarded off. I have addressed this issue with the GH-CP Association. The video below show the condition it is in.

I would like to Publicly Thank Bill Spencer, our Facilities Directer, for addressing this issue in a extremely timely manner.

So how is the beach holding up? I have not been able to get out there for a month or more.

In my opinion, not to well. Not only did we lose a great deal of beach front sand, it seems as if we now have a situation similar to Beaver Pond. If you google “Beaver Pond in Cabin Point”, then switch to “Maps”, it shows a small cut through to the river. This would suggest that the level of the pond changes with the tide, twice a day. This simply does not happen. It is my opinion that this pond is filled with run off water, as well as when we get a combination of a spring tide during a storm surge.

Since we added the sand at Glebe Harbor, we now have a trapped tidal pool behind the beach, towards the houses up on the bluff. This is very similar to Beaver Pond. It will be interesting to see how this trapped water will effect the skeeter population as well as the smell, once this trapped water combined with the vegetation, sits in the baking sun for 4 or 5 days. I will post some pics under the “Images” menu in a few minutes.

Why is nobody in our associations talking about this other then you?

I have answered your questions a thousand times, on other posts both on, as well as other websites. I can not speak to what is in the minds of others. All I can do is recommend that you show up at our meetings, and let your voice be heard. I promise you, you will make it out alive!
